Honeymoon: Tuscany Part 1

Alex and I headed to Italy, specifically Tuscany and Sardinia, for our honeymoon. We spent the first half of our trip in Florence and Tuscany getting a feel for the "big city" and smaller Tuscan towns and vineyards. Let me tell you something, Tuscany is stunningly beautiful and Florence is so rich in history and art it's crazy. We were constantly in awe of everything around us. Combine that with amazing food and wine and we were essentially in heaven. In Florence we stayed at 1865 Residenza d'Epoca and couldn't have asked for a better hotel. The husband and wife hoteliers were charming and welcoming, the rooms were beautiful with historic ceiling frescos, and the breakfast buffet in the morning was quintessentially Italian and wonderful. I would honestly never stay anywhere else in Florence.

One of the frescoed ceilings at our hotel. One some level I kind of wanted to be the owners. It seemed like a romantic, exotic life to be the proprietors of a tiny, lovely hotel in an amazing city.

One of the views climbing to the top of the Duomo, something I would highly recommend. Just be sure to arrive first thing before the crowds get crazy.

One day we took a day trip to Modena where husband got to drive a Ferrari!! I think it was basically the highlight of his trip and maybe life ;)
