My Bridal Shower

Her: Hugo Boss dress, Anthropologie blazer
Him: Hugo Boss jacket, Banana Republic shirt and jeans

Get ready for a lot of pictures folks. Earlier this month my Mom threw me the most beautiful, lovely, perfect bridal shower I could have ever imagined (thank you Mama!). As you probably remember from her “What Mama’s Cooking” mini-series, she is a whiz in the kitchen and she made everything for the shower (well, with the exception of the cake and cupcakes, which were from a local Rochester bakery, and the face cookies which one of my bridesmaids made, more on that below) and totally went above and beyond. She hosted the tea party themed shower at my parents’ house in Rochester and even hired a classical guitarist to play throughout the party. It really was special and I felt and feel like the luckiest girl in the world. So thank you to my wonderful Mama, to the family and friends who helped her to prep, and to everyone who came to celebrate, I’m so grateful to have all of you in my life.

xx Molly

The pretty cake with a surprise inside (see below) was from Goodness Cakes Bakery in Rochester

My mom ordered cookie cutters from Victor Trading Co in the shape of our profiles and my bridesmaid whipped them up for the shower!

With two of three of my lovely bridesmaids (we missed you Jackie!)

My lovely Mama!

Kantha Quilts

Are you familiar with Kantha quilts? I recently discovered them when searching for new bedding as part of our wedding registry and fell head over heels. They’re made from repurposed cotton saris from India and I love their vibrant colors and quirky imperfections.

Some great sources if you, like me, are now dying to make one yours:
  1. The Family Love Tree
  2. Fossik - I've got my eye on this one
  3. Harabu House
  4. Etsy - Gypsa
  5. Anchal Project

Spring Petals

J Crew shorts, Lacoste shoes, unknown top (similar here), and Dolce & Gabbana sunnies

These photos are from a couple weeks ago when we had our first day of really beautiful weather. The boy and I, of course, headed to Central Park to take advantage and spread out on a picnic blanket (really a couple of beach towels) as we booked our honeymoon. Such a lovely afternoon.

Grown-Up Ice Cream Sandwiches

I hope everyone had a lovely Memorial Day weekend, ours felt like the perfect start to the summer season with city adventures, beautiful weather, and time with family. I had casually mentioned to the boy at the beginning of the weekend that I might make ice cream sandwiches, and he did not let me forget my promise, so I quickly whipped some up in about 20 minutes on Monday. I used this vegan cookie recipe, subbing the chocolate chips for peanut butter and excluding the fruit, and used my favorite, go-to vanilla ice cream – Ben & Jerry’s. To take the sandwiches from ordinary to special, I also added a layer of apricot, orange marmalade, which added a tart flavor component that kept the ice cream sandwiches from being cloyingly sweet. The toughest part of the whole process was getting the ice cream to the right frozen / melted ratio (I initially let it get too soft), so  the boy and I headed to Riverside Park to watch the sunset while the ice cream refroze, and came home to delicious treats. We wrapped the extras in a layer of saran wrap and tin foil and are storing them in the freezer for another deserving occasion.
