Concord Grape Pie

Concord grape pie is a big deal in upstate New York, and growing up we would always make a fall trip to Naples, NY (fire hydrants are even painted purple there is honor of the grapes) to buy a grape pie from Monica’s Pies. We've been getting a ton of concord grapes in our CSA, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try to recreate a childhood favorite. I followed this receipt from Martha Stewart (you can replace the egg wash with almond milk and butter with Earth Balance's “buttery” sticks to make it fully vegan) and over the span of an afternoon whipped up the pie. While the results were delicious and just as I had remembered them, I may leave the grape pie making to Monica in future due to just how lengthy the process was.
