I've shared my NYC Mexican food struggles, but let me tell you where I don’t have a problem finding amazing Mexican meals – home, in Rochester, NY. Rio Tomatlan is the best Mexican food that I have maybe ever had, and I insist on going every time I’m home (I say maybe because Rick Bayless may have them beat). The sister restaurant, El Rincon, was started to feed Mexican migrant workers who were employed picking apples in nearby Sodus, NY. It became such a hit that they opened a location closer to Rochester. I love it so much that it’s even a location we’re considering for my bridal shower. If you’re in Rochester, or are ever in Rochester, go immediately. It is that good.
