Weekend DIY: Glass Etching

This weekend I was feeling creative and decide to try my hand at a couple little projects that I been delaying. I had two simple cylindrical vases that I wanted to spice up a bit, and with the first, I decided to try glass etching. Although a little intimidated at first, it honestly couldn’t have been easier. I used contact paper and a ruler to measure out my design, I decided on three stripes, and purchased Martha Stewart’s glass etching chemical, although any brand would do. My tips for success: wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from the harsh chemicals and be sure to apply the cream generously and evenly, leaving it on for about 15 minutes, and of course, follow the instructions on the bottle. After this first success, I’m excited to try more etching projects in the future.

xx Molly

p.s. Tomorrow I’ll share my second vase, which I “gold leafed.”
