Have you ever heard of a CSA or crop share? I was always vaguely familiar with the concept, but never really gave it much thought. Growing up, my Mom was at the farmer’s market bright and early every Saturday morning and so I always thought this was the best method for getting farm fresh, in-season produce. Then reality hit. I am just not quite the morning person that my Mother is, and getting to a market on a weekly basis isn’t as easy as she made it seem, which is why I’m so excited that the boy and I signed up for a CSA this season. Ours is 20-weeks, and we’ll be receiving a variety of in-season, picked that morning, organic veggies and fruit until just after Thanksgiving. Some of my favorite things about the CSA are the opportunity to try new vegetables that I may not be drawn to purchasing at a market, the cost (so much cheaper than a grocery store), the idea of supporting a small, family run farm, and the community aspect. One of the major advantages of a CSA is the social focus - the encouragement to share recipes, meals, and knowledge about food. So needless to say, I’m super excited for our first box to arrive in June, and I can’t wait to share the entire experience with all of you.

xx Molly
