Longwood Gardens: Light Installations

Bruce Munro, a British lighting designer and installation artist, has an ongoing exhibit at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. After first reading about it, I knew I wanted to check it out as soon as possible, as the pictures looked ethereal and almost other-worldly; and let me tell you, pictures do not do it justice. At times I felt like I was walking among a new species that had arrived from Mars, maybe, but at all times I was struck by the beauty of the installation. The lights gently change colors, sometime mimicking wind in a wheat field, fireworks, or the flickering of fireflies, which by the way, were putting on quite a show of their own that evening. My only disappointment was in realizing that one of the installations is only visible a daytime, so if you go, be sure to get tickets a little earlier in the day to see everything.

xx Molly
