Valentine's Day Gift Guide: 2012

A handwritten, sweetly worded love note

I would describe myself as romantic, I love giving and receiving just-because presents, sweet walks on lamp-lit streets, breakfast in bed, gushy chick flicks, but I'm not head over heels for Valentine's Day. The idea behind the day is sweet, showing the person you love a little extra attention, but it's turned into such a production - fancy dinners, expensive flowers, gifts upon gifts. And the worst part, in my opinion, is all the people who end up feeling sad and lonely because they don't have a Valentine. Growing up, Valentine's Day was less about romance and more about reminding the people I love that I care about them. I still give and receive cards from my parents and I think I may start a new tradition by sending close friends cards as well. My boyfriend and I have plans to head out to a low-key dinner in celebration, but the one thing I requested: a card. In my opinion there is no better gift to receive on Valentine's Day than a thoughtful, heartfelt note. That being said, here are a few other Valentine's Day gift ideas.
