Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

When I was little, my parents and I would sometimes head into New York City early Thanksgiving morning to try and catch the parade. I have always had such fond memories of the experience and so, we decided to go again this year. We spent Tuesday and Wednesday in the City - during which we ate at two wonderful, vegan restaurants, Candle 79 and Dirt Candy - and then headed to the parade on Thursday. We didn't get up early enough to have perfect seats, but it was fun being in the crowd, hearing everybody cheer for favorite floats and balloons as they passed. To celebrate the rest of the holiday, we travelled to Grandma's house in the Hudson Valley. Overall, it was a lovely, relaxing, much-needed break. And best of all, now that Santa closed the parade, it is officially Christmas time!
