Graceland

While in Memphis I took a short break to visit Graceland, home of Elvis Presley, King of Rock and Roll. I wouldn't call myself an avid Elvis fan, I've always enjoyed his music but to be honest never even realized half of his songs were actually his, oops. Everyone I asked though said it was a must do, so off I went. Not to sound whiney, or cheap, oh em gee what a rip off. It was $40 for a half hour audio guided tour of his house, and I say house on purpose because by today's standards it most certainly is not a mansion, and you don't even get to see most of the house! Now I totally agree that helped to establish the rock and roll industry and his career was insanely influential and meaningful to many, many people, but Graceland is a tourist trap nightmare. Even so, it was fun to see some of the intricate detailing of his stage and movie costumes up close and the crazy, over-the-top d├ęcor in the house. An Elvis song will always get my feet tapping and head bopping, but I don't foresee another Graceland visit in my future.

Carved leg of a hallway table. As you know, I'm all about animal decor.

I would hang this mirror in my own apartment. Well played, Elvis, well played.

Carpet in the kitchen?

Mirrored ceilings in the basement media room.

Same room as the mirrored ceilings, the whole room was decorated in yellow, blue, and white. Look at that monkey!

Sort of like a luxurious Persian tent, except its in a basement, with a silly lamp.

The "Jungle Room" with green shag carpet on the floor and ceiling and a built in waterfall.
