Basil Pesto

Fresh, homemade pesto using Mamma's recipe

For as long as I can remember my Mother has been making fresh pesto at the end of every summer and freezing it for year-long enjoyment. This past week we picked up bunches of organic basil at the farmer's market and headed home to whip up some batches. Pesto is simple and quick to make and keeps extremely well, all-year in the freezer. When it's homemade, pesto tastes immensely better than taken out of a jar; and by making it yourself, you can ensure that only whole, healthy foods are included. To make it yourself, this recipe is similar to my Mom's secret one.
